We’re Mickey and Anita and we welcome you to In Good Health! We would love to have you join us in the journey to wellness. As health care professionals (Mickey is a board certified Nurse Practitioner and I am a Registered Nurse) we have seen the good, bad, and ugly sides of health and illness. We have both struggled with weight, exercise, stress management, poor sleep, and all the general ups and downs life has to offer. We tried several nutrition plans and exercise programs over the years and were not able to stick to the plans.

Through much reading and investigation, we knew plant-based nutrition would be the most healthful. But how to make the switch? It would not be easy as it would require us to change everything we had known and be different from everyone in our family and social circle. In 2014 after viewing the documentary Forks Over Knives, like many people, we went plant-based and kept at it for 18 months. The longest we had stayed with a plan. Over time, we slowly drifted back to a standard American diet (SAD).  In hindsight, we now know, one reason we did not have dramatic shifts in weight or well-being was because we were focusing on meat replacement and unhealthy choices. We also did not put energy into other important facets of our life such as exercise or mental well-being.

As the years progressed, we both gained and lost weight and became unhealthier. In 2021, we began WFPB nutrition again and were better prepared. This time, we are focused on WFPB nutrition and not meat replacement. We are also focused on a holistic approach, making sure we are taking care of our mind, body and spirit as all are interconnected to health. As certified Lifestyle Medicine practitioners we work with people wanting to live a healthier life. Optimal health is different for each individual and we meet people where the are and assist them in achieving their goals to be as healthful as possible.
